As no surprise to residents tracking Talent City Council’s meetings, the members of council pushed through a fireworks ban for the first time in the City’s history. Citing fire dangers this year and the Almeda fire, which was not started by fireworks per investigators, the all-Democrat Council adopted ORDINANCE 2021-969-O as an emergency action tonight.
The ordinance is effective immediately and carries a $500 fine for the sale or use of fireworks in the City Limits. Instead of just 10¢, that sparkler your grandchild might enjoy in future, non-drought years, will cost you $500.10. In the only city in Southern Oregon that has not put up U.S. Flags for Independence Day in years, personal freedoms, liberty and respect for United States History seems to be fleeting in Talent, Oregon.
