Southern Oregon First:  Mission / Proclamation

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

We the People of Jackson County choose to come together, to set aside our differences in order to advance the Freedoms granted us by God, within ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and our community. We assert our commitment to each other and agree to champion these Freedoms for all. We agree to enable a truly free society built on the timeless values of Duty, Honor, and Respect.

We agree our Duty is to establish a beneficial and prosperous community for all, where each of us leads by example. We agree to serve one another with our labor and our hearts, while practicing understanding and forgiveness for ourselves and others.

With our Honor, we agree to honest self-governance that harms no person or property. We agree to facilitate effective, yet limited, local government that properly represents We the People and is subject to full accountability by We the People.

With our Respect, We the People of Jackson County solemnly agree to “love our neighbor as our self.” We agree to face every challenge and use it to reach our personal horizons. We recognize every solution lies within us, and through quiet contemplation, conscious collaboration, and intelligent discussion, we agree to focus on the solution rather than the problem.

We found these agreements on the American, the organic constitution of the united States of America, and the depths of our personal connections to God.
